Kokie Crown Jewel

I have recently received some press samples from Kokie Cosmetics (pronounced Co-Key) recently. At Nailvanna we pride ourselves on honesty, openness and transparency and you can read my full disclosure statement here concerning our reviewing practices.

After taking a moment to play with some of the fall colors I'm very excited to be sharing them with you over the next little while! I loved the clean black and white packaging they came in, embossed with the elephant logo. The word Kokie derives from the Korean word for elephant. I do love cute packaging but what is really important is the quality of the product. I have to start with the brush. It is soft and flexible making the polish very easy to manipulate. Kokie seems to have found the sweet spot that I love in a brush. I tend to gravitate towards the thinner brushes because I find that they give me better control. I can make the wide ones work as well but sometimes the brushes fan out bigger than my nails are. Kokie brushes are not wide but I would not call them thin either. It sits in a happy place in the middle making it ideal for most nail sizes. It's important for a polish to have a good formula but without a good brush a good formula will not go very far. I decided to start with Crown Jewel a Gold shimmer base with blue holographic hex glitter. Talk about eye candy! The formula applies smoothly and there was no need to fish for the bigger glitter pieces, they came out easily and fairly evenly. I applied three coats and took this picture before top coat. That blue holo needs to be seen in person! It's alive in a way only a good holo glitter can be. Crown Jewel dried down nicely with very little texture to it and one coat of top coat was sufficient to smooth things out. Removal was easier than expected as well. Removal of glitter polish will leave some people frustrated due to it's clingy nature but I found this came off with a lot less effort than most glitters. Hooray!

Kokie Oceana

Oceana is a beautiful shimmering mermaid teal green polish. I was seriously crushing on this one as well... The problem with having so many gorgeous colors to choose from is that I get frustrated with not having enough fingers to paint... Although Mini Me was more than happy to help me out and volunteer as many fingers and toes as she possibly could to help me out. She even tried to talk me into painting her teddy bears nails... We don't put nail polish on stuffies! You are going to get fluffies on your brush. That made sense to her thankfully. The formula for Oceana was very good as well and applied as smooth as butter. Two coats were applied with top coat in the picture above.

My first impression of Kokie is a good one. I am loving their colors for fall because there is something for everyone. They have an amazing selection with a great price point. They welcome creativity and inspire fun while being environmentally conscientious. I love discovering new products that offer the best of both worlds, being fashion forward and well priced! Currently, Kokie Cosmetics’ entire line of professional grade nail polishes are available at select Bed Bath & Beyond, Harmon, and Christmas Tree stores. I highly recommend getting your hands on Kokie if you haven't already! Check back often as there are more reviews coming soon.
