The Name Sucks But This Polish Is Amazing!
Essence Feels Like Birthday
I was sold on Essence Feels Like Birthday when I spied the "I'm New" sticker. I loved the formula of the previous Essence polishes that I tried and I have been keeping a close eye out for any new colors that pop up. It's one of my favorite drug store brands. Feels Like Birthday is a rich magenta creme with a great formula and opacity perfect for the fall to winter transition. I applied two easy coats and followed it up with a layer of top coat.
A good cream polish makes a fantastic base for nail art. I did not want anything complicated so I chose to stamp a simple abstract pattern on it that allows the color of Feels Like Birthday to show though. That being said, I don't love the name of this polish very much... it might be just me. I won't ever judge a polish solely based on it's name (though I have purchased a few just because I liked the name). Maybe it is me because I don't think it feels like anyone's birthday ... especially mine!
A layer of matte top coat seemed like the perfect finishing touch. Matte does show imperfections a lot more clearly than a glossy top coat so keep that in mind when deciding to choose a matte finish. If you have not had a chance to give Essence a try yet I would definitely recommend doing so. They are inexpensive, well formulated and the brush in these little bottles is one of my favorites. A little on the wider side, but soft and easy to manipulate. The bottles are on the small side being only 8ml but the price does reflect that. I can't think of a single reason for you not to give Essence a try.
