"A Real Actual Gem"

Sally Hansen Save The Date

Sally Hansen has some great polish. Occasionally I come across a color that surpasses all my expectations. Save The Date is definitely one of those knock out colors. When I pulled it out I expected a burgundy that might make a pretty base for stamping. I applied the first coat and right away I could see that this polish had more depth to it than I was expecting. The second coat cemented that conclusion as I watched the magenta and purple shimmer give that burgundy an inner fire that glows. The formula was easy to work with and two coats gave me complete coverage. I applied a glossy top coat and took my picture for you guys. This is a seriously sexy color. I almost feel guilty stamping over it...

Almost, but I did it anyway. I did not completely cover it, instead I added a pattern, off center on my nails to allow my base color to really show. The silver worked really well with Save The Date. I can't think of a single skin tone that this color would not flatter. Since everyone should have at least one dark and vampy polish in your make up arsenal I feel that you couldn't start in a better place than Save The Date. Even if you don't generally gravitate towards the dark colors you will find yourself enjoying this one. Easy to find, inexpensive and that depth of color is really something special! On a much lighter note, my eight year old is super impressed that the bottle has a "real actual gem" inlaid in it. I have not had the heart to burst her little bubble by telling her it is not a genuine diamond. It does add a cute little touch to the bottle. I think I might have to take a look at the Sally Hansen colors a little closer the next time I am in the store, and you know I'll show you when I find something good!
