Guilty Pleasure!
Essie Turquoise & Caicos
I received Essie Turquoise & Caicos just this year for Mothers Day, but just kept passing it over in favor of neons and glitters. It's not a color that screams look at me but every time I passed it by I thought it was a pretty one and made a mental note that I would have to play with it soon. Today I thought enough passing this one by, and I was feeling a little guilty as well since Mother's Day was ages ago. I was very surprised by the first coat as it was nothing like what I was expecting. It was very sheer and quite squishy and more like a jelly than a cream polish. It has a very nice consistency so control of the formula was a piece of cake. My second coat was a bit heavier than my norm and I thought it may bubble but not one little speck reared it's ugly little head. It dried very shiny ....I did not even realize my polish was dry because it retained the wet polish look. Hello there Turquoise & Caicos, I like you! My kids have good taste. I just love this creamy shade of turquoise and it's very unique to my collection. I recommend applying a good base coat under it to ensure that you have a smooth and lustrous manicure. I found I did not get 100% opacity with two coats and some of my nail line was still slightly visible but I really liked the milky quality of my nails. I have a pair of shoes these are going to be perfect with! A third coat I am sure would have had it fully opaque so if you would rather hide those nail lines you will need to apply a third layer. I added top coat before taking this picture. It's also worth mentioning that Turquoise & Caicos levels like a boss. No need to worry about brush strokes or pooling at all. I wish I had reached for this polish sooner but this is one of those colors that regardless of the season it's easy to wear.
Hard to resist adding a bit of glitter and Orly Sparkling Garbage is perfect on top of Turquoise & Caicos. It's a fine holographic glitter in a lightly tinted murky green base that allows the color from the polish below to really show through. I added two coats of Sparkling Garbage and top coat for another awesome manicure!
