“I like the night. Without the dark, we'd never see the stars.” ― Stephenie Meyer, Twilight

Sinful Colors After Dark

Sinful Colors After Dark is a charcoal grey textured matte glitter that is far from boring. The texture is similar to that of the Zoya Pixie Dust line. The formula is smooth and easy to apply. I used two coats for opacity allowing about five minutes between layers. I found that After Dark dried fast as a glitter heavy polish often does. It looks much more textured than it actually feels. I really love the moody asphalt color of this polish. It reminds me a bit of being a little girl watching my father work in his workshop and the brand new sheet of sandpaper that I would find. I would love watching the fine grain glitter slightly under the workshop lights. Once they were used and glitterless I lost all interest in them... Guess I should have known even back then but I didn't have a crystal ball.

Sinful Colors Kosmic

Sinful Colors Kosmic is a pink holographic glitter suspended in a clear base that dries matte. I used to think that matte meant my polish would be devoid of sparkle but have long ago learned that it's just not glossy. The color of the glitter is more pronounced in some cases and Kosmic is not an exception. I have been itching to try this topper ever since I bought it. I just wasn't certain about which polish I wanted to pair it with first. I only applied one coat and since I was quite pleased with the way it didn't take away from After Dark I decided that less is more in this case. I really liked that my manicure still had that textured look and feel. I have a feeling Kosmic is going to look good on a lot of different polishes.

Well since I was playing already I figured I might as well keep going and see how it looks all gussied up with top coat. I figured that in the worst case scenario I wouldn't like it and would take it off and start again. In all honesty it didn't seem like such a big deal since the formula for both After Dark and Kosmic are so easy to work with. I was having fun! It took two layers of top coat to smooth it out which isn't unusual for textured polishes. The top coat really made the glitter pop and the holographic quality of Kosmic was a lot more apparent once it was glossy. I say take a look at the pictures and decide what works best for you. I have always loved glossy nails. I love the shine and the way my polish feels when it smooth as glass. That being said textures are so trendy and can be a lot of fun to wear as well. It's no secret that I wasn't a fan of textured polishes in the past. I used to be a vocal critic of them but I have to admit that I have really warmed up to them. I find that for me its best to just go with the flow, and see what I'm in the mood for. There are no rules for this and you are the master of your own manicure! The Sinful Colors Kylie line has some of the most fun polishes I have tried from the brand so far and I'm looking forward to testing out a few more. They are inexpensive and easy to find. After Dark is a great way to test the waters if you haven't dabbled with a textured polish before but are thinking of trying it and Kosmic is just a pretty glitter topper that you can't go wrong with. I think both are definitely keepers!
